idk about systems but before eggs drop without using reroll lix. Nowadays you need one to get one.

Yeah, seems kinda confusing to me, but it seems that with some bosses your legendary drop will be a crate most of the time (eg jarl, or bosses in k3) and with other bosses your legendary drop will be an egg most of the time (eg kettle from elite stabb, a worthless pet from thunk one-eye). Although I must say that over the seasons sts has changed were each egg drops from and how frequently they drop so I find it extremely confusing (eg remember when wrathjaw dropped like rain from jarl, when nexus dropped frequently from k3, or to go back even further when kettle used to drop from mobs in elite rooks nest).
