Default Best Pet For A Tanking Warrior?

I'm looking for a pet that is fantastic on a warrior class. I'm having a hard time deciding between Malison, Orion and Snaggletooth. Which is the best out of the 3 and why? By the way, I'm using the pet for a PvE not PvP. I don't really do PvP. Also, the overall stats of the pet has to boost the players strength overwhelmingly. For some odd reason, I'm level 19 and can only do damages from 15-25.

I heard Orion isn't such a good pet. Well, comparing to Malison it isn't.

I'm pure PvE as well, and to start with at your level, go with Ribbit IMO. But if you've got the money, or when you're higher level, go for something else ~ (Only level 18 myself) So I'm not sure about the higher rarity pets. But stick with Ribbit for now IMO. He does wonders for me with the STR and health regen.

Well malison gets drops from elite zones, so its drop is kinda amugity, orion adds 160 health when its level 20, that's a useful thing especially for us warriors, but i'd suggest ribbit too

Hazel imo isn't a great pet. The slow ability is useless for me, so I rather use Snaggletooth for its freeze (stun).

Shiloh is also another option for me, since it gives a +40 str to all party members for 8 secs. Plus Shiloh also has +4% Dmg reduction.

True, the usefulness of Hazel's arcane ability is very limited. In PvP, Hazel is a very faithful pet for those running rogues and mages

So which pet is it? Orion? Malison? Snaggletooth? I know this question is going to be asked."well, what exactly are you looking for? " im looking for a pet that gives good strength and health and/or mana. Health isn't a problem for me.

I don't know about ribbit. I'm stuck between Malison and Orion. Both are great pets. But which will be better for tanking? That's what i do best. Rush and kill everything in my way in a matter of seconds.

For elite ribbit is king w/o getting arcane or mythic pets. By "twisting rabbit" (see alrisaia's guide on forum) a team can quickly run elite maps. Additionally ribbit has 25str which is a warriors base stat.
However, if you are not ready for elite and new to the game; try koko or snagletooth. Koko has an 80 armor base buff and its abillity is +15str, int, and dex. Snaggletooth has a 2% incoming damage reduction and an abillity which freezes mobs. Both pets are very hlpful for defense (what tanks are all about).

Fyi I hav Orion and he is awful, I never use him on accout of a loooong cool down on his abillity. Both him and malison r offensive pets, not defense.

Also - tanking is about taking hits - not killing stuff... see: Playing Your Role if you're new to MMO games...

Tanking is all about taking hits, holding aggro, and staying alive. Crow is a boss tank and provides advice sparsely - heed it well

I'm good at taking hits. I last longer in a solo run in the kraag tombs than the average Joe. I just need a pet that will help me deal damage and give me a bit of a health boost or armor. My armor isn't good. It's level 12 and im level 19. I can't seem to find any good armor drops.

I know what tanking is. I played the game dozen of months ago. But i didn't have time on my hands to play. Also, I'm good at taking hits. Is just my strength is really low. I tried tweaking my skills but it doesn't seem to work. I do about 15-25 damage on a mob in kraag tomb level 4. Which is incredibly low for my level (19)

Hi Crowsfoot. I read your comment, and while I do respect your tanking style, I completely disagree with your opinion about Orion. You're also not the first warrior to say this, so I'd like to explain some positive points about Orion if I may.

While the weaker part of my argument is that Orion offers tanks a generous mana boost to save on pots, I won't ignore writing it, because any attribute a pet gives adds to their overall usefulness. Additionally, his other attributes simply can't be overlooked for tanking in party situations. Not only does Orion provide one of the highest +HP buffs out of all your pets (+260), but he also grants us 2% dmg reduction, which is equivalent to approximately 40-45 armor or so for a L31 warrior with 1500+ armor. There are not many pets in the line up that offer these two stats side by side. Looking at my list, I only see Snaggletooth (+250 HP, +2%) and Nexus (+150 HP, +1%) offering this set up as viable substitutions (Abaddon and Ripmaw also fall into this category, but we're not talking about mythic pets here). Snaggletooth, Nexus and Koko all have great passive abilities and should be in any good warrior's line up. However, when rating them in all categories, I feel that Snaggletooth's arcane ability is pointless, Nexus' stats and arcane ability (for PvE reference) are mediocre, and Koko's stats are very lacking. Whereas Orion gives us terrific stats, a powerful passive ability, and an extremely useful arcane ability.

Your argument that the cool down is long is valid, however, you're overlooking two very important details about this pet. First, his L15 passive ability, Cruel Swipe, is simply one of the best available and often gets overlooked by players. EDIT: It is similar to Koko, Vixen and Kettle's (and there's more) Raking Maul, but instead of 1 target, hits 3. The effect goes off quite frequently, reducing incoming damage on you and your party by 15%. For bosses such as Rutger (his bleed effect) and Mardrom (his AE) who's attacks are somewhat unavoidable, this is a significant chunk of damage that you're saving your party from receiving. That in itself is a defensive characteristic of a pet, not an offensive one. Secondly, yes, his arcane ability has a long, 25 second cool down. But this is why his passive ability is so strong and I feel that STS did a splendid job creating this pet. For what it's worth, after the 6 second buff wears off, the cold down is actually only 19 seconds.

But let me close by saying that, this is why the warrior class is so wonderful to play. Depending on your play style and who you run with on a daily basis ultimately influences your pet selection - and there's so many to choose from, "the world is your oyster". I thoroughly enjoy Orion for both PvE and PvP. He's at the top of my list.

Kettle, Loki and Vixen are your best bet. There's very few pets that offer the best of all three stats as you're seeking. However, if you feel like spending some plat, both Abaddon and Wyatt are also excellent pets.

Wow. That was deep. I think i have decided. Once i reach level 30, Orion will be one of the 5 goals I've currently created.
