Default How the game is geared towards 10% of the players

I have been playing Arcane Legends for around a year now. Maybe a little less. And in that time I have watched the game sink below a fun to play game, to a contest to who can scam who or sell more items. The game economy is controlled by 10% of the players who can afford to spend real world money to open crates and fill the Auction House full of those items at the prices the want to see them sold at. Case in point is the new Mythic items that came out on 9/20/13. 12+ Million gold? MILLION? This is turning into a game that has two classes, those with, and those without. A simple item that should sell for around 300k is bought out of auction by the 10% and marked up 800% or more. So lets do a little Math shall we? Look at the random drop amount of gold, 1g to around 32g. For quests the most is 3k for the elite boss kills. So lets say that I do 18 daily quests, ranging a total of around 8.5k a day for those quests. Now lets say, I have three toons to do that on. At most you're talking about 25.5k a day doing those same daily quests. Now lets see how long it would take to get to 1m gold. 39.5 days. That is to reach 1m without buying anything. Potions, armor, pets, ect.

Not all of us have been playing this game since it started. Not all of us can take our rent money and spend it on in game items or to open crates. Not all of us can compete with people who have 100m+ gold in a game where they can buy ALL OF THE ITEMS and repost them for a 62% average profit. I have seen so many people give up, and stop playing because you cannot compete with the things that are happening. And also, are scared to speak up for fear of the 10% that control it, defend themselves to a point that has no valid argument. This game is for all players. If that isn't the way Spacetime Studios wants it, then you can keep your 10% elite money makers. But to allow those few people to control the economy in the game 100% is something that cannot happen. But since it already has, you see your player numbers drop. The 10% doesn't care if you have a lot of players. They care how much gold they can make. You don't figure how much money you lose letting the 10% control your in game economy. You can either have the 10% put money towards your company, or you can have the rest of them. Because when you start to lose money, or figure you aren't making enough, you'll stop updating the game for another way to produce a revenue stream. And all in all, it will be solely, 100% because you let your game be controlled by the 10%. I am one of those players that cannot stand to log in anymore. I cannot stand how the game is a digital Wall Street and not a game anymore. So, post your 'n00b' comments and tell me how I'm wrong when this is the fate of 42% of all games that have an in game economy that isn't kept in check.

The very point of this, is when you can spend 2400+ plat to open crates and get nothing. Nothing but garbage. If you don't want the items flooded in the market, I understand, but then you still risk the above thing to happen. I'm not wrong. I'm just one of the few that has the guts to put it up here.

I don't think you're going to get much sympathy here. There are a lot of ways to make gold without gambling on crates. Events like these are a gift for people who farm. Because they drive up the prices on crates and chests. Friday morning crates were probably around 11k-12k. Now they are around 23k. That is doubling your money without doing anything. If you want mythics then you have to invest the time to earn enough gold to buy them. Just like the previous mythics, these mythics will be much cheaper down the road. But if you want to be the first to own them they you need to pay a premium. As an experienced farmer, I held most of my elite golden puzzleboxes because no mythics came from these chests. So I knew there would be some event that would drive up the price on these chests in the future. Yesterday I sold them for over 300k each. And I did nothing to do this but keep them in my inventory. So you need to look at various opportunities in the game as to what to farm and even when to sell. This is why I am against dropping gold in the game because gold never appreciates in value. Yes 99% of things end up depreciate over time but thats how it should be so people can afford these items later on. As for merching, it ends up being a tax on the system because it keeps prices artificially high. But there isn't anything that you can do about that. If someone can buy something for 10m and sell it for 14m then they will do it. I recommend you don't buy or sell things to people who merch. Because they offer to buy it at the lowest price and sell it to you at the highest price. And I am sure there is more then one merchant who wasn't too happy to be surprised by this event. Because if they were holding any mythics they lost some of their value. So in the end, dont worry about what other people are doing and focus on how you can be successful. Anything else is a waste of time and energy.

I don't understand these threads. STG uses the same gambling concept that thousands of other games are already using. They also utilize the popular in-game currency system, which is their primary source of income to pay their staff. Unlike most mobile games, STG's games are very fair and do not bolster any pay-to-win features. There are no one-way streets to achieving anything or acquiring the best gear in this game. I started with 0 gold, 0 friends, 0 platinum and now I have everything I want because I worked at it. If you play this game casually, then yes, you will fall behind. Every MMORPG is like that, however - from Dungeons & Dragons to World of Warcraft - they're all the same. So if you don't have the time available to invest in the game, then don't expect to be at the top of the ladder. At the same time, don't criticize those who do play a lot nor the company who allows you to play this game for FREE.

Trust me, there are worse mobile games out there which clearly rob it's clients in order for them to even log in.

Hate to tell you, but the richest player in the game almost never spends plat and has never opened a single locked crate or converted any plat to gold. He made his money within the game. Just like real life in any free market economy, the cream rises to the top. If you want a game with a planned economy (i.e. socialism), then this is not it.

Based on the rant, every entrepreneur should never try opening their own business.

    Thread closed:
A rant is a post which is long-winded, redundant and filled with angry, non-constructive comments. A free exchange of ideas is essential to building a strong sense of community and helpful in the development of the game, but rants are disruptive and incite flaming and trolling. Please post your thoughts in a concise, clear manner and avoid going off on rambling tangents.
