farming for scaled event drops

Ok all you pl experts out there, I'm trying to figure out how the gear scaling works for events. I haven't been able to do many of them so I'm hoping some one can help me understand it. I see level 10 and 15 holiday gear, and I'm sure that level 10 would drop to a level 10 or lower player. 15 would drop to a 15 level player. But... what would drop to a level 14 character? A level 19 player?

Seems to go to the lower level, so if there was a 10 & 15 drop possible and it was a lv 14 farming you would get the 10. Can't think of any exceptions off the top of my head, but things can change behind the scene.

Yes, when items are scaled, you will get the highest level item your toon can actually use. This way a toon leveling through a new map has a chance to use the new gear earlier. I think that was the idea behind scaled items.

If sts does a event this year im sure farming low lvl Halloween item will be useless since.the old ones already got nurfed. Doesnt make much sinch though seeing as the 2011 low lvl Christmas items are op and stayed the same

thanks for all the answers! If I remember right, the boss difficulty scales up to the highest level of all the players. So a level 76 player that joins level ten players causes the difficulty to match a capped level boss. The drops are still scaled for each player though. Is that right?

Dont think that applies anymore. Having a high leveled player in your group affects enemy difficulty level, not drops.

Yes, the maps have been like that, no one could host/boot. A lv 10 starts and can fight well until a high lev joins and the enemies scale to the highest and the 10 is leaching because it can't damage.

This year's event is nothing like previous year based on what I remember. I missed most of them, so correct me if I'm wrong. I have a level 19 and so far level 10 and level 15 helms have dropped. I can't tell what is triggering the different level drops. Ideas?

I've concluded that if you are in a level range dungeon for this event, let's say 20-29, you have a random chance to loot the level 20 or 25 items, regardless of level

My question is how do you get a l10 into the map? I tryed scaled farmin on my 14 and says it.doesnt meet level requirements, yet i see level 10-19? Games going. I try to join and says failed. Either way its probably pointless to farm these and i say weapons dont drop this year due to so many complaints about last years-.-. Overall im just glad for costumes

If you were, say a level 76, and you joined a low level game, say 10-19, the difficulty of the map does not change. You can get level 10 or 15 armors in that map.

This is just a guess, (don't trust me on this) but when a level 10-19 character joins a game through Shifty, and they are the only one in the map, then I think they would host the game. Level 76's can join the game if they have a friend in the level 10-19 map.
