Do we have to download this manually or will it happen automatically when we load up the game or log in?

You'll have to get it from the android market, should show up as an update (or I believe you can set it in the market to allow auto-updates, but I'm not familiar with how fast that occurs). Normally you wouldn't need to update this way often, as we do content-only updates with the in-game patching, but during the beta we'll be updating more often as we fix problems specific to the android app.

For some reason it won't install the new update....It goes through the whole download process but at the end of installation it says that the update can't update or something....could anyone help me?

You may have to go onto your SD Card and clean out any files associated with the game, or go to Settings, Application Manager, Legends, Clear Data, Uninstall, then head to the Market and reinstall. There is another MMO out there in testing that pretty much has the same issue.
