Locked Crate Game Insanity? Make that money STS!!

So... it's no lie that I have a pretty good bit of gold and items. I also make good money with my career, that has paid for it. I can see how free players can be annoyed by those of us who pay for plat, but without us, i dont think you would be playing for free. But let me give a heads up on some issues:

First off, I spent close to $270 on plat last week. I usually spend $10-$300 every two weeks because i enjoy the game. Is it worth it? Some times. This last week, for example, i opened 600 locked and received one lunar amulet and one doom amulet. (barely worth 1mil) Those were the only two mythic items. I did receive about 300 plat (which feels like you're paying dollars for pennies). The rest were multiples of cheap pinks and gold. It sucked.

A trusted friend and player opened 70 around the same time. He received 2 arcane eggs, 1 arcane hook, 1 arcane staff, 2 mythic eggs, 2 sets of mythic armor, and about 800 plat.

A few months ago, I opened about 150. I got 2 sam eggs, and 3 mythic pieces with a bunch of worthless pinks.

Needless to say, Im not to thrilled with the system. Im convinced it's not based on luck at all, but rather what the devs have decided to make for certain times, classes, and levels. If they can change the drop rate for certain items, we'd never know.
Ill still play the game, but since I have every item, i doubt ill be investing as much. locked aren't what they used to be or give what you expect, so dont expect anything when you gamble. if you have two locked and 30 plat, dont waste your time. be smart and use it for elixirs.(although, the elixir depreciation value there has me wondering as well)

Umm..my friend opened one crate on that day and he got glacian..just one crate.Before that day he ever opened like 50 crates. So i still believe it's all about dice..

that's ridiculous. everything about a forum is an informative opinionated rant. that's why its called "general chat".

My point being is about the locked luck rate. 600/2 vs 80/5+ is crazy. you're better off using plat for lix, pets, and gold, imho.

That's better than 1/100.
That's pretty damn amazing, considering I've shown math showing that the assumed "1/200" by the community for mythic is likely much higher than what it really is. It's closer to 1/1000 most likely.

goood point. Hmmm. you cant really judge that collectively, though. If you spend $500 to open locked and get 2 items worth under 1mil and someone else spends $10, acquiring 10 items worth over 100mil... It tells me, there is no true random luck involved, only theoretical timing based on the player.

ill agree my luck has gone downhill. ive seen others getting lock/legendary drops with no lix or lep, while those paying for the extra luck with lix and lep get simple rerolls for greens and blues. ive also heard players say that damage plays a role... which ive also seen. (high damage wars getting 1 to 5 drops in kraken mines, while others struggle to get 1-2)

all in all, its great game, but I question the mechanics.

Even casino's give comps to their high investing players. *hint hint*

Funny you mention casinos because when I read your thread earlier I instantly thought, "that is insane he is spending so much each month to gamble on something that is not tangible! This guy would be better off hitting the casinos!"

I've been told by the devs 100 % random. Dun get me wrong bro I feel your pain I've invested 25k plat myself. Unlike you I have zero arcanes to show for it.

Since I have everything I need I've basically given up on lockeds. I've taken up on pvp which requires zero plats. Merching is slow but at times rewarding

I didnt say more than what we could wish for. Plus, it doesnt mean that if you are a plat spender you already have everything. Yes I am a plat spender, but I dont even have an arcane weapon or an arcane egg. or all the pets in the stable. and buying plats is not an incentive, it's just an advantage of having things early if you are lucky. So i don't get your point with "more incentive than what we have." LOL

I get where you are coming from, for I have spent a little more than a thousand dollars opening crates and have only got one Doom amulet. I completely agree with only spending platinum on elixers, pets, and ect.

Actually, plat spenders pay the bills, everyone keeps the game running. If non spenders didnt play the game would die because its so empty.

I would say heavy spenders are a minority, and are not consistent forever. Like the op, they will eventually have diminishing returns and get bored.

They gave out one VIP crate to most players when crates first came out. It cost no plat to open. Basically it was a marketing tool to get people interested in crates.

This was done during the Kraken Isles expansion if you payed a lifetime amount of $20 on plat. The most recent VIP reward was a damage elixir during the Nordr epxansion (I think it was memorial day)
