Okay, so some may know lol (confession time, Lesrider certainly knows now)...... but I use hobo gear....on purpose...Call me the lunatic mage that escaped from the crazy tent.

I have collected all of the cosmos set except the robe, but I chose not to use them.(although laser wand is somewhat different). I am not even sure how to explain myself but it has worked very well for me. I hated using the cosmos stuff.

Ok, for the most part I have been wearing the metallic set of brilliance. That’s right you didn’t read that wrong... the green one!(Start poking now)

So here are my reasons, feel free to tell me I'm crazy. I am totally open for discussion and beatings.

The mana can’t be beat on any other set. At 15 mana per equip, yea, I hardly ever have to use a pot. This allows me to nuke and heal everything. Now regen time isn’t any better, nor is skill cool-down, but with more mana it is ready to go at that spare moment of terror. No moment of "o, I got to pop a mana before I cast".

As far as armor, yes I take a hit:
Gurgox eye- 25 armor
brilliance green- 19 armor
blinking eye of fate- 19 armor

metallic robe of brilliance- 36 armor
cosmos robe- 36 armor
metallic robe pink- 36 armor

ol cosmos helm- 19 armor
metallic brilliance- 14 armor
metallic pink- 14 armor

As for weapons, I do go with cosmos laser wand now, just for more damage with my weapon, but really my casts do more damage than my weapons ever have.
Keeper staff, meh, would be cool for mobs, but I think the last thing any team wants is a mage with aggro during boss battle, am I right?

So the only things that I'm missing here are the difference really in crit% and hit %. If I already have well over 100% in both, does it really make that much more of a difference? (I actually want a response to this cuz idk).

I also miss out in a couple points in regen for both mana and health. I don’t even need those. I usually never have a problem with health with spam heal, and with more mana there is no need for a faster regen.

Least but not last, I have run lately with some great mages lately all decked out in cosmos. I don’t die anymore than they do, and I actually have died less. Call me crazy, but cosmos set is a kill magnet.

So now, I have let you in to my crazy thoughts. I may have scared some of you.....good. As lesrider says, I look like a newb, poor, and invisible. lol. Good and then I nuke the crap out of everything around me and all are in awe. lol. I get booted from games for my gear. It only pisses me off sometimes.

Honestly, I never knew the green robe has the same armor as the pink. I liquify those babies too fast to see the stats lol. But now that I know that, I think a nerf is in order

I'm curious to see what others say. Other than having to deal with everyone Pming me to boot you, I've had no problems playing with your potato sack of a Mage

I think that with all the mutterings over how easy ao3 has become, we should all dress up as hobos and boot the players in full rift/cosmos/void... with the possible bonus benefit of finding a forum thread asking "Can someone explain WTF I got booted for???"

So the difference (ignoring your laser wand) between full cosmos and full brilliance is 8 m/s vs 60 mana, so assuming you play less then 8 seconds at a time, brilliance is definitely better

Cosmos and Brilliance. Only concentrated on the m/s which is 4 on each cosmos and 2 on each brilliance. This is completely ignoring the 16 h/s you also get for 'full' cosmos'.

you know... i like the idea of a hobo-only group. you can use a good weapon, and at most a good helm if desperate (cheapest general item)
just found out i liquidated my tenacity set... i had every single one lol

By 'Full Cosmos' I mean the four items, not the set. No one uses the set, that is for sure. It is trash. Either Keepers or Wand / Eye.

So I have used the blizzard wand of brilliance which actually adds 24dps and another 15 mana. Then u have the complete set with that. It's nice to see that I'm not so insane. I was beginning to wonder when I got booted so many times for gear lol.

I think the solution is a fate/presence nerf! Cmon Cinco, this has to be a mistake! (at least give Cosmos our 1-2 armor extra. Sigh).

Well cosmos still has some extra armor, not the robe, but the others. But I don't feel like I miss the armor at all.

I'm with you on this! I'm not using any cosmos and staying loyal to my blizzard stick because of the speed.

It's heart breaking to be booted because of my hobo garb (which I like), I die more often than cosmos mages only when my fingers are tired from potting health or receiving incoming calls
