I just see you sometimes in towns with your arcane staff. Oh and i think i saw you too in leaderboards in the past season. Anyway, it's better to just keep your gold because you really don't know what might happen in the future. Maybe your kids might also want to play thhis awesome game and it would be a good start for them to have a lot of gold and some top gears. Or maybe when you get bored someday or have to take a break wih all the non stop work you are doing, you can play AL to relieve all that stress. Think about it. :-)

I would keep the gold. I used to have a lot of gold, very old vanities (earlier seasons) that would be worth a lot, and just different things that I could've just kept and sold for some quick gold. But when I thought I was quitting, I gave all of that away. And now I come back and have to restart it all. I really miss those vanities.
Just don't give your stuff away. Bad idea.

I wouldn't give all my gold and gear away.
When I quit PL, I did something similar, giving everything away. Every now and then, I log back into PL realize I don't have anything then log out.
Not having anything is a death sentence and effectively forces you to not come back. Please don't make the same mistake I did. You could regret it towards the end of this season or beginning of next, when you have some time available and want to return.

All these people begging for Samnto give them some gold.. really shows their character.. they aren't worth the money.. just people who want to jump in the train.
Please don't give away your gold. However, if you are feeling generous, keep 1m aside and give a few thousands to the nubs in outpost and windmoore. But I strongly suggest that you give away none of your gold. It's a product of your hard work.
