Many people have been asking if the nightshade pet for the top 3 players on the event leader board will be eggs or preopened. The easy way to find the answer is to simply click on one of the first through third place players on the leader board. Doing so will display the following:



Therefore, it has already been confirmed that nightshade will be rewarded as an egg.

I think they all want the egg and banner since the shard just is for some xtra gold for them but the others are quite exclusive.
