Default iPod 5th gen vs iPad mini?

So my iPod 4th gen is starting to not work anymore. Its never held a charge long but now its battery life is even shorter. The voice control will randomly come up on the screen without me doing anything. And now I will be listening to music and then the sound disappears along with the play, pause, and volume buttons but then it shows the song still playing. Now that I have some cash I'd like to replace the iPod 4th gen and I was looking at the 5th gen or the iPod mini. I like the iPod because of its small size allowing me to take it everywhere with me but with the iPad Its easier to play games with the larger screen. Is there much of a size difference? Or will there be a even better 6th gen iPod out soon that I should wait for?

I'd. Wait for the next gen, being a iPad user I favor it for ease of play and of course the 10 hour battery life. If you have the extr money go for the mini.

I can afford either of them. I will be flying across the country in a couple of months though and I'd like to have something to have music on at least for the long flight and the hours of driving after it so do you know when the next gen may be out?

Went ahead and got the 5th gen iPod despite the fact that the 6th gen is coming in October but I have my reasons. Already and glad I upgraded from the 4th gen. The 4 gen was possibly the biggest regret I had when buying something. I returned my iPod 4 several times and the replacement always had the same issues. It never held its charge for more than an hour and a half, it froze up a lot, was super slow, and took hours to install things. But the difference I see in the 5th gen from the 4th is impressive after only using it for a couple minutes.

My bro got an ipad mini for his bday - it's really cool. The graphics are so slick and sharp. Definitely recommend it.
