Saying gay gets you muted?!

I found out today, that if you say 'Gay' you will get muted. I find this very offensive being apart of the LGBT community, and it just makes no sense to me. I do understand that Gay can be used as an insult, but so can many other words that arn't banned. I would greatly appreciate it if Gay was to get off of the list of words that get you muted, thank you.
