Help posting xcf images!

I recently made a photo using Gimp and the extension are xcf. But when I go to post and I hit the insert image button and find the photo it says that it is invalid. I try to change the extensions to jpg or one of the allowed extension it gives, but then it says Xcf extensions are incorrect. Please help!

Use export in gimp to save it as a png or jpg.

Export? Where do I find that? I can only find Save as.

Since v2.8: File > Export as

Older versions: File > Save As, then just change filename to something.jpg before saving
