Wondering if the area of effect works properly on this. Whenever I use it around chests, they dont all break like they do with shattering scream. So is it not damaging multiple enemies too? Its always seemed pretty weak to me.

Are you very close to the chests? The range of avian scream is very short, similar to bear slashes, you basically have to be right on top of your target(s).
