    Default Adding Dex to Bear

Ive seen people add about 90ish dex to their bear, doesnt that lower your armor and stuff? And could someone tell me if i had a lvl 50 bear with full hate (hax) how much dex would i need to add to make him able to hit properly? (hit rate wise)

It does lower your armour, dodge, and health since you could be adding them to str.

But the main point in adding dex to a bear is to allow more Hit, and since for crit Str=Dex in amount added per point, you'd get the same amount of crit anyway. It also adds more base damage.

Lol nice 5 min later post.
So would you recomend adding dex or just going full str?
I want to survive, but not by doing seriously low dmg either.
Hows the dmg for full str hate bears?
Im not going to be using rift cus it makes me look kinda oldschool.

Going full str means you only want to tank, but even if you just want to tank, I recommend adding dex.

Your skills still miss (debuffs, taunt, beckon, stomp), so adding dex will not only allow your attack skills to hit, but for your tanking skills too.

I'm not sure on a Hate set, since I never used one and just stuck to my Rift.

Just for point of reference in regards to damage, I'm not sure what your stats are now , but I run with (with Fine Steel Ring of Technique, 1Dodge, 2H/S, 5 Armor):

    STR: 211
    DEX: 81
INT: 16 (extra 1 Mana Regen, mainly for before I had full Hate)

    This gives me:

    Hit%: 100
    Crit: 30
    Dodge: 11
    Health: 706
    HRegen: 20
    Mana: 408
    MRegen: 9
    Damage: 126-135
    Armor: 153

True, but please realize that the more str u have, the more effective and strong your skills are. Has anyone ever done an analysis to determine how much of your pure stat you should have to get the most out of your skills?

Elly, what's the minimum dex you think a bear should have to make the hit percentage effective. I think I remember a thread from Psy where his analysis recommended 84% hit?

I to never used Hate, Rift set w/ Bonus was way better IMO and also harder to get. (If you were one of the lucky peeps who got in Shadows the day it came out).

I think the stat-based skills raise the same amount of damage per point no matter how high the stat is. I don't think there's a maximum stat point you can put when skills start to give a diminishing return on skill damage, unless I'm mistaken

I like to believe in that 85% hit cap, since 100% hit is a bit of an exaggeration (though I think I know how dodge works around this). I've always been a fan of dual spec-ing my bear, so im roughly 50-50 on str/dex.

You make a point, but the way I view it, the "strength" of bear skills is really not an issue like it would be for birds or mages, as in, I'm concerned with iron blood, evade, rage, taunt, beckon, hell scream, stomp (for knocking in to corners/walls, not necessarily the damage), SMS for the stun (again, not as worried about the damage, I rely on other people to damage), which all have set values if I'm not mistaken, for instance, the more strength I have isn't going to make me Taunt harder (that would be the rank) or allow iron blood to give me more armor. Basically, I feel like if I'm constantly hitting and taunting, that's enough to keep agro, most of the time, and allow my team to kill the people off (on boss fights).

I'm also willing to sacrifice a few points of armor to make sure I hit more often to help with that agro.

Just my opinion, and it could be a very invalid one at that, just my observations. Other people here have more experience than me, I'm curious what they have to say.

IMO full strength bears are terrible, unless you want to be a harmless meat shield.

Go minimum str for your gear, and the rest dex. You will do more skill damage, hit, and crit more often, for sacrificing unneeded armor and dodge and a tiny bit of HP.

So this build would be the one with the least dex to achieve 100% hit?
    Is it necessary tho?

Or could i do with even lesser dex?

I suppose it would vary depending on the gear you have, but assuming no gear equiped, that combination of dex and int will get your hit to 80%. If I take one away from dex, it goes down to 79%, same with int, if I take one away there, it goes down to 79%. I'm sorry to be misleading, I neglected to mention that it was 100% with hate gear on. I apologize for that. I was mainly posting that in reference to the damage.

Wait, i just read a post saying that 158 str rest dex or maybe dual was good.
If i were to dual should i use dex stuff or str stuff? Money doesnt matter. Or should i use the 158 str rest dex build?
Btw this will be for lv 50 only.

Dual has two purposes, one is to allow you to switch between str/dex gear, and two is even if your sticking to str/dex gear only, you only need the minimum stat required.

It's really what you want, do you want to use str stuff only, dex stuff only, or both?

    There's really no difference.

If you want to use str gear only, dex gear only, or both, I suggest dual - which is 126/126.

Forgive me if it's been posted before, but what's your reasoning behind only using the minimum stat required? I thought for tanking, the more health and armor, the better, which strength gives you. I can totally understand the flexibility of dual speccing, but if you are going to have a single primary role in mind, would it not be better to be more bias toward one attribute (not neglecting the other however)? Just looking for your thoughts and to fix something if I'm doing it wrong

    Thanks!

My bad. Just re read it.

What I meant to say was:

    Str/dex gear - dual spec
Dex gear - minimum dex req
Str gear - IMO, it would depend on what your after.

A pure tank would be pure str, but like i mentioned in another post, a pure str bear isn't the best tank because your skills can miss (debuffs/beckon/taunt/stomp). So even if you can take a lot of damage, but these skills miss often, you won't be that effective as a tank.

I recently just re-did my bear at 56, from dual spec to a str-gear only bear. I have much more str than dex.
