Great, I had the same question, I bought 1700. I bought some inventory spaces for that 40 platinum offer.
I have a question though.
I only have the Courage pet (I am pretty new, only lvl 19), so I guess I should try getting a different pet?
Should I buy a pet with platinums? Any good one around? the 250 platinum pet does not seem that good in theory.
What else do you recommend for newish players? I also bought the 1 week 60 platinum 50% exp. So I got about 1.600 platinum.
Am looking for suggestions on all of the above, sorry for "photobombing" your post.

Probably best plat purchase whatever has the best return of gold. I believe ankhs are the best gold return at the moment.
Then buy pets that are good AND a good value. Haven't really played in a while, but I believe Grimm and Dova are on the cheap side--especially considering how good they are. And don't overlook some cheap & basic but powerful pets, such as Ethyl.
Don't fork over all your gold & platinum for an arcane pet. It'll be better used to acquire gear that'll boost your stats higher & for considerably less gold.
Tip: play on the cheap side for a bit, while you amass your financial moves. The game is more fun. You don't need to be running around with mythic pets and elite legendary gear while clearing out Kraken maps at lvl 22. Using overpowered gear early on has a major drawback, too: you never learn how to master your character and how to play it.

I got about 100k gold, also can buy a pet with platinums if its worth it since I got about 1500
Honestly when I had 100k I bought malison for like 60k, malison's AA is more for rogues but stats are pretty balanced. Right now I don't know exactly how much each pet costs but I recommend:
Yowie, Blinky if you can't afford any of these you can do daily quest stories in exchange for story tokens which you can buy eggs such as Colton that gives 30 INT if I'm not mistaken.
Focus in leveling up and don't think too much about gear and pets you'll get then when you are cap lv.

Ethyl and Orion should serve you well as a mage leveling up. If you want to spend some plat, Clyde is 90 plat and a good mage pet - he's more of a defensive pet, but one of my favorites until I could afford Samael.

Actually, I don't know if anyone else has this issue but the plat is not actually 40% off. Usual price 89.99 would be 54.99, however it's 64.99. Maybe a mathematical error?
I found that too. Was in a hurry to buy and only did the math after. Doesn't help that with the latest update they also removed the original price so I'm going from memory here... secret plat price rise, hidden by plat sale??
Plat sales are almost always a week or two before a new plat item is released. Whether it is a new mythic pet, a new arcane from locks, or something else, it's worth saving your plat until you see what the sale was actually leading up to.
Never look to make money on a sale weekend either, since several thousand other players are buying up ankhs and elixirs and fire-selling them. Just hold it until a better time comes to make use of it.

I have this error too, on december it was 14000 huf which was 55 usd, but now its 18600 huf which is 69 usd.

I purchased 2x 1.7k plat today and had no problem with the price being incorrect but I've heard of a lot of people having this problem with it being £10/$10 than it should be at 40%
Good advice, I'm hoping it's a new mythic pet coming!
