The Ultimate Sorcerer Guide!
I'll just go over the skills and some gem-full ideas to help you build your own sorcerer.
Fireball:
An essential skill both in PvP and PvE, In PvE it is mainly usefull for the DoT, and its wide range of stun. I would spec in 4/5, which is the first three upgrades that will make your fireball to stun, have an increased range, and damage enemies for 5 seconds. However, I am unsure about the 5th upgrade if it works in Elite PvE or PvP, I'll test this in my free time, and let you know soon!
Lightning:
This is like a Rogue's aimed shot, Since the first upgrade increases the DMG output by 15%, i would definitely spec the upgrade! Going onto the second upgrade, this upgrade is a somewhat useful upgrade, though I'd just spec it in if i am doing a Weak elite map, I've seen mages using this in tougher elies that are higher than shuyal, and to be honest, they were equally geared like me, but the DMG output was not so pleasing*(!). Going onto the 250% bonus damage on a critical. Honestly, I don't think many mages like us have those crazy criticals. But this upgrade is useful for boss fights or shaman like bosses*
The last upgrade is a 25% chance to stun the boss, so every 4 times you can stun any mob, but these do not work on bosses or they may do. If they do stun, its not a bug - or it could be one!
I would spec in at least 4/5(except the attack on multiple mobs) for this skill if i am doing elites and PvP. The second upgrade is upto you!
*(!) = This 2nd upgrade of lightning is totally optional, Please use it at your own risk!
Shaman Like bosses* = These types of mobs cannot be freezed by the frost bolt skill. They can be rooted, but cant be frozen, and these are mobs that are tougher than normal mobs of a particular map. An example would be in an elite map of shuyal, where you cannot freeze the blue-mages. Although these work in normal maps.
Shield:
This is the most important skill for a mage, this is why we survive and living without this skill is a SUICIDE!
Arcane Shield works like this (((STR*2) + INT) *3) = DMG Reduction.
Arcane shield can be very useful to a mage, for example lets say i have an STR of 35 and a health of 700. I have 70 INT and 350DMG (im too bad at examples)
And now im dying too much in elites even though when i am using pots, shielding correctly. Heck, i keep dying. One solution, Get some STR gears (usually brutality for armors, helmets, weapons, amulets, or sometimes..rings?) Alright, now I respec, and lets say I have 100 stat points. Before respec, I had put in 5 STR points, now I put in 10STR points and rest in INT. So now I unlock shield, with the first, third and fourth upgrade. The third upgrade for the shield will reomve stun, snare effects. And charging will remove bleed effects!!
This is an important skill in PvP, since you don’t wanna get 1-hit in PvP by rogues and easily wiped out by warriors!!!
Frost Bolt: (Ice skill)
This is a useful skill, something like lightning, although the damage output may look the same when on the view screen, but lightning will only more damage if you have unlocked the 1st upgrade (lightning does 15% more damage). This skill is useful in elites for freezing shaman like bosses, snaring the enemies (enemies get slowed). And even freezing mobs! The skill doesn’t free bosses.
I'd say unlock the 2nd and 3rd upgrade. For pvp and pve (hybrid style), I'd recommend that.
An upgraded duration of pain and more damage! - Rogue's razor shield removes the snare effects, so you will need to do a fast combo of shield + fireball + lightning + ice.
