Question So I broke my phone screen...

On the way home from school today,
I dropped my phone...and the glass broke...

    Currently looks like this:
    Attachment 132253

Is it still safe to use? (i.e. no stuff will fall out of it)

Should I save up to buy a new phone, or repair it?
    (Its a laggy, old phone)

I talked to a few friends, some say its ok to keep using it, others say i should replace it.

Anyone else ever cracked their phone's screen before?
    What did you do?

    Thanks
    -Ruizhe

I have many friends that have cracked screen and they still use it all the time. I dropped my Ipod and the screen cracked and I still used it for about a week until I got a new screen and replace it. Many people don't know how to replace a screen and buying a new phone, which I would not recommend unless it's an old phone etc, is just stupid. Idk about android, but I'm pretty sure you can replace the screen. If you don't know how to, I recommend getting it replace by an professional who knows how to. Of course, getting it done by someone else cost even more money. My screen replacement for my Ipod cost around ~50 dollars which is a good amount. Not sure how much android screen cost, but probably around something like that. Good Luck!

So long as the digitizer is still fully functioning, replacing it shouldn't be difficult at all. Just buy the materials online. Should be rather inexpensive since it's an older phone, and it won't really matter if they're OEM. Be sure you're using the proper methods removing anything (especially heating the adhesives) to avoid harming any internals.

If the digitizer or anything else is damaged, you can easily replace those too, however at that point you might as well just get a new phone.

I wouldn't suggest leaving it as is, Gorilla Glass being a hardened glass has been known to shift and fall out when shattered more than standard glass fronts. Which at the very least can lead to cuts.

Personally, I'd just see it as a good excuse to upgrade to a new phone.

I've dropped my phone before and cracked screen used it for a few months until the phone became out dated slow ect. I say if you have the means to buy or warranty phone ,get a new one.

I've broken my screen a total of 4 times now, it happens dude , I'm sure there's a place that fixes screens for cheap enough prices in your area , gorilla glass (which I assume your using) is dirt cheap these days although if your phone is old old and does not have gorilla glass your best option is to replace it because its more expensive and chances are you'll break it again + nobody likes a laggy phone. Best of luck

About 90% of the people at my school are using phones with cracked screens. I don't know how so many people in such a small space can drop their phones as often as they do :/

Ouch. At my school I swear people are dropping them of purpose. Every few minutes you will just here the bang of someones phone hitting the floor.
