should i become an archer?

hi all i am a mage as of right now and was wondering if i should be an archer. i have enough free plat offers to get a respec and wondered what people were thinking. thanks for your thoughts and help.

If it suits your playstyle why not. I prefer pure int but I do miss been a pally.

u will do a lot dmg, but ur squishy, loose quite skill damage and u will need sewer king gear except u wanna be ellis best customer...
as mage u have a ranged weapon with a good dmg... so whats ur thoughts to change to dex?

I love my "Ranger" hehe that's what I call a dex/int bow chantress. Max both buffs and time them with shield so you always have either shield or the armor boost from buff on and the slightly less armor makes no dif. But the dmg output is good with bows because your hit rate % will be much higher with dex and you rarely miss. I like it more than my bird. More aoes and they blow up where you are not where your targeted. Much easier to place dmg.

yah i was thinking more towards the ranger. i already have an archer and love it the only problem is that i have no high leveld archer gear (im lvl 50) id be willing to trade a cosmos set for the megablaster set (dont know what its called though) and if i do respec should i go dex int or dex str. or a mix of mostly dex (enough to get lvl 55 stuff) and spread the rest? ty for the help

I think dex/int is the best for a chantress ranger. You will want some mana and int raises skill dmg for mages. So you get hit% and some dmg from the dex and mana and more dmg from the int. Now your skill dmg isn't going to be better than a pure int. But single target dmg from the bow is much higher. And you just flat out rarely get dodged.

With crit buff on and a full nightmare debuff on a group they all drop in one set of aoes.

Main reason people stick to int over Dex is that you keep your high skill damage. Aoe damage staffs are also main factors that make int so darn powerful. My theory: if you are going to be ranged and squishy, just go with int to maximize what a Mage does best: blast away.

I have pure int and paly. I prefer pure int better for farming. I wouldnt go dex mage. Just make a pure dex bird as second char.

Agree with superglut2. Just train up an archer. Remember, you will have a base health of 400 with mage, and 500 with bird.
