Elon gun or Frost gun now?

I see a few top Mages change from Elon gun to Frost Gun as the recent nerf to rooting in PVP.

Frost have slightly better stats than Elon Gun but it doesnt root Boss in Arena and some PVE Maps. Is the extra armor for Elon gun really worth it since it wears off quite quickly?

I am trying both guns at the moment thinking of not using frost bolt instead of frost gun so i can use other skills, let me have your thoughts on which gun is better at the moment.

Both have their pros and cons. I have tried both guns and I prefer the Elondrian over the Frost. The Elondrian is good for both PvE and PvP. Frost is more PvP oriented. The Elondrian gun also gives a nice +150 armor boost, while the Frost's slow down isn't a 100% proc chance. The 150 armor is also permanent as long as you can keep mashing the attack button.

In elites, Elondrian shines IMO. If you proc the +150 armor before stepping into Veil, you get a significant boost. 150 armor is also helpful to a mage especially if you have the arcane ring which is another +170 armor. You'll have more than 1.3k armor which is very helpful.

Yeap i am leaning towards Elon gun still, due to the armor boost. Shall play with the frost gun few more days to see how.

Elon has an armor debaf which procs very frecvently. Thus you damage is really higher.
