Twink would be your best bet.

The 2k rewards are better than the pathetic L41 crate gear. Study the twink market and choose a bracket with the best current prices.

My sugeation is u better open in ur lvl 41 acoount, because if u max lvl u maybe can get mythic or arcane item ( not egg ).

The mythic weapons drop from their respective crates no matter what level you open on.

Definitely open it up with the lower level chars. Most of the Lv41 gear isn't worth trying to even sell in the auction house.
The legendary items you pull will be scaled to your level, but the mythic and arcane will automatically be set at the level for that item.
I've gotten plenty of mythic and arcane items with my lower level chars. So my Lv1 char has pulled Lv26 Mythic Helms with no problem, so no level limitations there.

I opened 56 locks today on my level 12 alt and i got 2 maridos eggs, 1 fossil and one warrior mythic helm. So there's definitely hope for you.

Last time i opened crates was in season 4 around 350 was aint lucky.

Gave try at 138 locks 2 days back . this time also aint lucky. crappy eggs , a lunar and few dmg elix and class rerolls.
