Give bears a weapon or skill to break shield

I was in a team of lvl 45-50s on the overlord boss.
and have found that for them its impossible to stay alive long enough to break his shield so i was the only one who could survive without a tank pot.
players no longer buy the tank pot because it costs plat now so i find my self soloing the ol i can stay alive but it just takes too long beckoning him into those barrels.
and the old glitch behind the wall no longer works he just resets when you go out of the door. i like a challenge but this is insane now im a bear and a weapon or skill to shield break would be a great help.
i feel sorry for these new players who cant beat the ol to unlock victory lap.
my aim is to help those players in need but without a good archer its too much without shield break its s

It would overpower bears. The fact that they can withstand most punishment from bosses/other players, WITH the ability to break shields (mana shields for example) would completely make bears unstoppable and unbalanced.

No they only break armour not shields

Spears, lances, harpoons, force cutters, and blackmetal claymores break armor (lowers armors), but the OP is talking about the Overlord's " mana shield", which can only be broken by blast shot, or a barrel. Same goes with mage's mana shield.

So we now want bears to have HP, Dodge and a shield break? I'm going to have to agree this would just be a bit too much. Bears have quite a bit going for them already (I've heard the report that they suck in PvP at high levels). I know bears got dodge (from birds) as a sort of rebalance, so if bears want a break shield then give dodge back!

I think many people are foolished in thinking that, if Blast Shot takes down Overlord shield and Mage Mana shield, the new skill capability for bears should do the same. But It was NOT thugimmortal asked; he only wants a way to get ride of Overlord shield with no necessary impact on PvP, and I support his proposal.

OL is the only boss that requires a specific breed to be present for clearing, and it is an unmotivated difference (I think recent changes in OL attacks drive in that direction, that is requiring a support team for birds to kill the boss).

Yeah im not fussed about pvp just the overlord.

Well that is a different question than I thought it was initially, but the same concerns about PvP would still apply. The only feasable way I can think of would be for the devs to actually alter the OL, because anything else would transfer over into PvP (new skills, weapons with break shield).

Have you played lvl50+ pvp? He's always in a game there.

I do think this would make them semi OP, unless that skill was melee range like CB, or a bit shorter. Needs to be very hard to hit, but not impossible.

Yes, I'm sure they could but it seems like quite a bit of work in order to fix a small oversight. It would force the devs to implement a new item, it would have to drop in a certain area (AO3 perhaps), it also really would fix the issue of screening a team for an OL run (unless this new item has an exclusive look).

Also, elixirs are coming back withe 1.7.2 so that could put this issue to rest:

U can still use barrels to break shield right? and a bear can beckon/stomp OL around easy enuf to get him to the barrels so u dont HAVE to have a bird present to kill OL just takes more thought.

Yeah but by the time the poor old bear sprints up to attack his shield goes back up.
