Arcane staff (possibly other arcanes too)

So I noticed that when your about to equip the arcane staff it gives more dmg than wisdom gun but I hear from people that it reduces skill dmg. Is this a bug? I thought more dmg on char screen= More skill dmg. But its not the same for Arcane staff. Can someone explain this to me if this is a bug or not.

The dmg you see on the character menu is your auto-attack dmg.

The dmg you see when you click on a skill description is the dmg your skills can deal.

But I thought dps= your auto attack and dmg=skill dmg

I think you interpreted that thread incorrectly..stat damage is very different than skill damage.

So how do u increase your skill dmg?

DPS = damage per second. Damage = damage per hit of your weapon. The higher your attack speed, the higher your DPS (which is why staves have higher DPS than guns).

The skill damage is the damage you deal while using skills.

That's what I understood anyway^. Generally guns will have higher skill damage but lower DPS and staves vice versa.

Your main stat, para gems, and weapons will increase your skill damage. Some weapons have higher skill damage than others.

The dmg you do to mobs/bosses is called actual dmg & is calculated as follows:
Actual dmg = dmg value x bonus dmg %.
Dmg value = what you see on screen as your toon dmg.
Bonus dmg % = this is a percentage, so whatever value you have, divide it be 100 to put in the actual dmg calculation.
Your actual dmg ia not what you will see on screen as hurting mobs because mobs also have their own armor value.
