Depends your play style, I personally prefer gun because
I'm constantly bouncing all over and I like the range. If your a more lax spell caster use staff, staff usually will give you a lot better survivability as well .
Pve and PvP staff, the proc is very good!!! But see if u kill more with staff or gun.. Good luck!!!

I'm a lvl 41 mage. Should I buy elondrian gun with para or a arcane staf with no para? It's hard to decide between a staff or a gun.

Check out the 56 legendary guns. They offer a lot of bang for the buck

get both as u need staff for crowd control while gun when u wanna kill boss

I would say go for mythic staff lvl 51. They have good dmg output and are cheap as well. For gun u can pick any entomancer rifle.
I primarily use the arcane staff (46) and entomancer luminiscer (51) for low lvl elite/farming where hp is not needed

Depends on what u want. Arcane staff gives good hp but less dmg. According to me hp is necessary to survive the new elites. I have more of a crowd control build rather than a crowd killing build.
More hp is needed to proc Time Shift mastery successfully (most of the times).
But there are players who have 5.5k hp with a glintstone gun. So it really depends on your other gear and your preference.

Well guys i must say, you guys are not making it easy for me, at all. Im a perfectionist so i only want the best of the best (if its affordable for me lol) So i should go with more HP and less dmg? So the arcane staff is perfect for me then?
I can't agree with the more HP and less dmg, we are after all a squishy class. If nekro shield and arcane shield goes in elite farming it's usually curtains for us. Personally, I would go with the 51 flame forged mythics, trust me that proc will make you smile for days.

easy things buddy...if u allredy hv endgame helm armor belt,nekro,arc ring and planar pendant u dont hv to worry about picking a weapon since u allready hv a good amount of hp...i can say right now hexstone (STR type) staff is a good weapon to use than arc staff 46...if we compare that myth 51 between arc 46 item the myth 51 proc is much better.. Wildfire VS DoT (we barely can see its auto att proc-ced)..wildfire proc do ripping enemies health faster than arc 46 staff Consecration..about dmg reduction no need to worry since u hv nekro shield and ur Arcane Shield skill..if u wanna kill hard elite boss just use legendary 56 assault gun...last from me make sure u got ur gears jeweled up with high tier mind and some chaos jewels..

The mythic staff proc is this.
if the problem is to defend. Use clock, fire and ice. Clock masterie is good
One thing, I noticed about staff users is that they tend to stand on top of the mobs to use their staffs. The range of a staff can be pretty significant, you do not need to stand on top of a boss to deal damage.
