It's damage from gem (2.0) x your bonus damage.

Well every time I've equipped one endgame or in my low 40s it's been around ten increase...so that's why I put around ten

As Befs said, its based on bonus damage percentage.
Example: If your bonus damage is 400% then a base 2.0 damage will be converted as 2.0x400/100=8 damage (not DPS, damage).
