Here's an answer I gave to another rogue a while ago before pet animancy was released.

Basically I think rogues need primary stat pets, crit/damage buff pets, crowd control pets (to stun/slow), and if you can, anti-stun and debuffing pets.

With pet animancy it's actually a lot easier to get a good pet. You can slot Kelvin or Breeze arcane ability to pets that give great primary stat/dex happiness bonus like Nightshade or Dovabear and you can stun bosses without losing much damage. Or you can slot Ironbite arcane ability in NS and Dova (or even past event pets like Yowie) and free yourself from stun and slow in Underhul.

A lot of event pets are great for PvE rogues. Swift and Slink especially are good to have on some elite runs.

I have to say no. Nek damages more than SnS, their happiness bonus is sorta of a trade off, one offers mana regen, the other health regen. Nek has +5 more primary stats than SnS. See the ss below to compare for yourself Keep in mind I am an elite farmer (rogue) who parties with a full class.

I don't leave home without him, I prefer him as my number one over all pet. I use him to shield the party when I know Ard is in cd with jugg and or horn. Also nek is a great shield for party when nek's aa is used before mobs that stun.

Many players have Nek, so timing is a huge key when two neks in are in one party. You have to wait about 5 seconds in between neks aa when two or more are in party. Nek's aa don't stack. When using a second nek's aa too soon, you can cancel out the other nek's aa, rendering both aa.s useless.

As mentioned a few posts above, there are many fun ways now to use pets with the animacy. Iron bite, nilbog, valkin, night shade, breeze, valkin, and swift are all great non arcane pets with fun HB and aa. I enjoy a iron bite or nilbog in my party if we need to be free of certain spells. (like stun, root, or slow)

Anyway good luck to you enjoy selecting pets!
