Unable to connect on 1st launch

Whenever I first launch PL following the handset being on standby; I'm unable to logon; receiving EM "Failed to connect to the PL game servers. Please check your internet connection" and the messaging window at the top says 'Unable to retrieve server status".

If I quit out and re-launch it works fine. This issue occurs every 1st launch and is regardless of a wireless of 3G connection. Other apps that require internet access work fine on instant launch following standby mode so I’m a bit puzzled. Does anyone else have this issue?

I've a 3G with OS 3.1.2 if that helps. Let me know if you require further information.
