Thumbs down Prices are getting ridiculously high

As we all know the prices of the endgame equipment has gone out of the control. Demonic set costs way over 10mil. That's just outrageous since there are very few people who actually have the money to buy for it.

My first endgame char was in ao3. The new void set was released for my bird. What did the most expensive set cost back then? Bird mb set was about 1m (compare to nowadays autobow set).

Then they released the sewers. The endgame prices had a huge leap.

And once again when nuri came out we had even greater leap.

I understand that the prices of the new endgame equipment goes higher every time. It's just normal to be greedy but what about when the cap is raised to for an example to 81? Laser shooting bow of awesomeness set costs 150m?

I know some people may take this lightly but this seriously is a big problem. A common player just don't have enough money to keep up with the ridicilious prices and even greater amount of ppl have to stay with bad endgame equipment. It's always more fun to play a game where ppl actually can buy equipment.

The fews who have the time to farm or are skilled merchers just go richer and richer and common players realize that they can't even afford a simple leather scrap.

What do you propose then? Socialism? Force the skilled farmers and rich merchants to pay taxes to fund welfare for the relative poor?

Although you're right, you can try looking at it from a different angle.

You're looking at buying the gear, but what about selling them? You'd also earn high.

Also, you're looking at pure gold earned from past campaigns versus the current gold and gear gain, but what about trading? Mace for bow, staff for wand, etc.

I personally walked into Nuri's with only 200k in my pocket and a Custom set and was able to walk out with a lot lot more. However, I did spend the time to farm and work for the gear, which shouldn't be an issue. Players get what they work for, like anything in life.

I do wonder though if some sort of gold sink or deflation system would be put in place, I can see what you mean by later level caps making gear cost that much.

Which will only create an incentive for the unskilled to never acquire a skill and a disincentive for the skilled to continue working hard, which is exactly the reason today's Greece is bankrupt 30 times over. Where do you draw the lines?

Hm its true that prices for end game items are right at the moment. But thats the way it goes whenever a new item comes out into the market.
Theres high demand and little supply, sellers have a monopoly on what prices they put it up for. Since they know there's players out there who would spend big bucks just to get their hands on the latest items. But, as the "older" glyph set items, prices will deflate back to normal. give it a few weeks or so.
Also, you have to realize, theres a ton lot more money in the pl economy right now than way back. Prices will always be rising, but hopefully so will the pl economy.
or else, no one would be able to afford anything lol.

the way to change the world is by doing one act of kindness at a time, care to buy some cookies?

What I thought was like a certain maximum price for endgame equipment.

But yet again how is it possible to execute it?

The max for any item, assuming nothing else changes, is 9.999m; the character gold-cap which means the trade gold cap as well.

Ofc I understand it Whirlz and acutally I realiaed this after I read ur topic about money. I umderstand that there's more and more money but I won't pay that 150m for laser shooting set of awesomeness.

It demands even more and more farm/merching to get that eauipment.

    It's called inflation.

There's a natural ebb and flow of prices when new content comes out, but there's also a steady decrease in the value of gold. Everyone's accumulating so much that we don't know what to do with it, and it's reflected in the prices we set on the best items. The real issue is the lack of an endgame gold sink.

Sure, if you get lucky with drops you can catch up. But otherwise, it does drive a friggin' huge wedge between the rich and poor. I agree that it's an issue.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with the pricing. It's supply and demand.

It's an issue. I have many friends who will not play anymore because they don't have the time to devote their life to the game. They have fallen so far behind that it is easier to move on to other games that do not require the intense time investment just to keep even. Most have families. The long term success and survival of a game demands mass appeal, not just an appeal to the elite who have massive amounts of time that they are able to invest.

If you can still enjoy playing with "obsolete" equipment, (by obsolete I mean the items that used to be the top notch equipment), or play with the new pinks that are not the current top notch pinks, then you can save allot of gold and plat. I left two other games that were getting too expensive to play and decided to give PL a try. A couple months later, I am at level 56 and enjoying playing 5 levels behind the big guns and using nice but not ridiculously expensive equipment.

I have a demanding job, a wife and a new son who will be coming home from the hospital for the first time in six months since he was born. I have nothing to prove here playing PL, so I do not have a need to have the current greatest high demand equipment. I am just here to have fun playing with other people.

At some point, I may decide to leave PL and move on to another game. But as long as I am still having fun and not needing to spend too much time or money to be a strong beneficial team mate, I will continue to play.

I dont mind or care about high prices.
I rarely buy in cs, unless theres a real real good deal.
Im not a big spender anyway. Just selling excess if im not too lazy.
I like to wear what gears mobs drop me.
Yes my bear is in full glyph... too bad not all same for bonus lol.
But hey, im still good with it.
If ill get a complete glyph set great... a demonic later would be awesome... if not well no prob.

The top end sets are expensive it is true, but that is because this is a relatively new campaign.

Actually, the slightly above top end sets like melodic and low end pinks are remarkably cheap and offer a good value. I would have to argue that for cost effective players, this new level has offered better value than previous levels. The low end pinks are all almost as good as their top end glyph counterparts, minus a set bonus.
