Did your internet fail? Also, sometime there are updates and the updates show a screen when you log in that says something like, all servers are down please try again late. So that might be the case. Also, you said something about joining a game? This theory is unlikely but maybe you got booted from the game that you joined. I doubt that's it but just another theory to add.
