Guild chat log would also be a good suggestion. The last 10 posts (by /g) made inside of a guild are kept in the guild chat log where anyone can see it by going to the Guild page & clicking on a chat log button on the top.

This would also be a good way to communicate to guild members that are not online

And maybe the guild leader could pin an announcement?
