Aggro - 1h vs 2h - amount of hits vs amount of dmg

Always a classic debate in these games is the aggro generated from dps...is more hate generated from pure dps, or is more hate generated from amount of hits?

This doesn't necessarily have to be 1h vs 2h, but maybe a big hitter one hand with a slower speed vs a smaller hitter 1h with a faster speed.

How does it generally work in this game and what are everyone's thoughts?

Still new to this game, lvl 23, but not new to the concept with 10 years or so of EQ under my belt

In big groups, I prefer a fast weapon so I get my hits in, too. If it is too slow, I will swing the big hammer and it will come down on a corpse.

Plus, the buff affects each swing, so that multiplies the damage. +50 damage on a weapon speed of 1.0 is twice as much extra damage than on a weapon speed of 2.0.

p.s. this is my first ever MMO but I played D&D for 25 years or more... can't remember any more... ;0

I always used a 1hs in eq with my warrior as we could duel wield.

1H has more DPS and Armor, 2H has more damage. I prefer 1H, big time! 2H is cool for show though.
