Default What Is the Benefit of Trading and Gold (higher levels)?

Hello all! I am relatively new to Pocket Legends, though I am a level-44 character. I have a question about trading. From my experience with the players in Pocket Legends, people are pretty generous and willing to help. Also, for example, if I am a Warrior and I receive a cool piece of equipment for an archer, and I know I am not going to use it, I would rather just give it to someone who can use it.

Also, as I reach higher levels (for example, Alien Oasis), it seems that the best equipment to get is not through buying it, but actually acquiring it by defeating enemies. So, at that point, does gold matter?

With that said, has anyone encountered a player who would only give them equipment through trading? I haven't. Also, what is the benefit of gold after you get to regions such as Alien Oasis? I haven't been to Nuri's Hollows or Mt. Fang yet, but I am guessing the best equipment to get there is not by purchasing it.

    Thanks,
    Bronxman

Well if you don't like killing bosses over and over at higher levels, you're better off buying.

High level drops are very rare so you are better off buying parts of the sets in the CS to avoid having to farm for many many many hours...

Actually its quite the contrary to what you said.

Gold is NECESSARY to have at higher levels since the drop rates of many items that you need (i.e. good pinks) are soooo sooo low that farming for them is unfeasible for some. In that case, having a lot of gold would enable them to simply buy the items they need rather than spending dozens of hours trying to get just one drop.

EDIT: Dang, got ninja'd by a squirrel :/

Well it's good time at alien oasis 2 and below, but at alien oasis 3 and forward you will face the truth that "best" gear farming takes lot of time due drop rates are hugely smaller. At 50+ it's better buy what you can get and if you are luck, then replace it with better gear.

From reading your post, it sounds that you were like me a few months back when I had my first lvl 40ish char and did not understand how to use CS. If that is the case, I suggest you go to Balefort Castle and look through the chests with the birds standing on them to navigate and familiarize yourself. The CS is a place where people put their items up for sale, so prices will vary since they set their own asking price. I would suggest checking out the thread from Yannis/Drew in the Market Place forums to see what items interest you, then use the key word search to look up the current market price of the items. Please do keep in mind that the price of items fluctuate depending on supply and demand, so I'd suggest checking back a few times over a couple days to get a gauge of a fair price. I hope that helps, and apologize in advance if I've misinterpreted.

What everyone else said is correct, but don't completely cast off farming for the items. The pinks gotta come from somewhere ya know

If you do get a pink as a drop, be sure to check their prices on the consignment shop in the balefort castle Towne, before you try to sell it

Bronxman, while gold is important, definitely don't discount the relationships you are building now by giving good gear to friends as I have a couple of tight friends that will either give/trade/or sell at a deep discount any premium drops that they can't use. Not to mention there is also the guild route where you can "cooperate & graduate" if you're trying to drive for a specific goal.

With that said, since gold does play an important part in your gear loadout, one thing you may want to consider is "going Cyber" and selling that in CS as I believe it still turns a nice profit. Besides if you're going to grind in AO3, you might as well grind with a purpose. (Not to mention if you don't sell your Cyber gear its cool from a collection standpoint!!!)

    Good luck and have fun!

Giving dex stuff to birds because u cant wear it? Bears have to be dex/str, then u can wear it or sell it at the auction (cs), join balefort castle and walk straight and, take first right, thats the auction (cs), the market.

And yes money is important, for twinks or good sets. Twinks are low lvl pvpers with good armor, some ones are pve farmers.
