I think some of the issues here were the fact that a few things may have not been taken into consideration. And even perhaps 1 simple change could've at least altered the disappointment and outcome of this event.
1st: For leader board vanities. From the perspective of a player, if you had 2 options:
1. Spam open chests for a chance to be rewarded said (item). and its trade-able!
2. Go a week without sleep, repeatedly farming, and competing against other players, and not even to mention spending actual $ and in-game money to get a spot on the leaderboard for (item). and its not trade-able!
Which route would you have chosen?
Something that could've been done to fix this based of the responses and reactions of everyone on this thread is you could've removed the vanity set from the chests.
Everyone complained about how it was in there in the first place. I understand that many people dislike the appearance of the set, but if it was only obtainable from the leaderboards at least that would've cheered us up.
But the fact that it was obtainable from chest & it is tradeable (not to mention there are a handful of pay2win players) just causes a massive wave of disappointment.
I hope you guys can take my feedback into consideration and base rewards from the perspective of a player in future events.

the concept was really refreshing and original, and i found it very fun to run!
only 2 little things to make it perfect:
1: add tier (would have been more encouraging to run more)
and
2: of course the lb vanity prize should not have been lootable from crate, should always be unique and untradable
(even if i didn't have time to run for lb, i understand very well the frustration of all top 10 lb player)
I also find that 1 week for those event is perfect, 2 weeks is very long to those who run lb.
Thanks to all dev who have put there time and effort and imagination for this really cool and original event!!!
ps: oh just another little thing that should be addMagnus would look more genuine if after each run he would give us a mug for our efforts :P
Cinco im really disappointed of what happen on last hour of event..
I was running lb n i was on lb but after the update for spirit event i got locked out and got to login 30 minutes before event ends. Well at that time its was hard to find team and random was trash.. i got left behind and lost lb with 2k pts only.. was so excited for whiskey banner but only left tears and disappointed in my eyes.. i had comments on update thread but left with unsatisfying answers.. i hope this won't happen in any event specially for lb runners... I haven't played al properly since then... U can check me..

Sounds like you had trouble logging in - while most others did not. Makes me think this was an issue with your internet connection, your device or service provider. Otherwise all others would have experienced the same. We can’t go giving away lb rewards (even the horrible ones everyone hates) because players’ connections fail.
