The Legend of Zelda, Golden Sun, the battle of wesnoth, Neverwinter Nights is not new but not old, Elder Scrolls 1 through 6 Dungeon Siege 1 and 2 Diablo SimCity Mario bros those are the only ones I can remember at the top of my head if I'm missing something please feel free to add
Ah! I see. It's important to note that none of these examples have player-driven economies. It's actually quite common in single-player item / loot games to include purchase and item liquidation features as a measure of balance and a means for advancement. Less so in multiplayer games. Multiplayer games with player-driven economies are a whole other level of complexity ;-)
