Disappearing flag!??

Not sure how to recreate this but here is the story.

Earlier tonight in a 5/5 Castle Keep Away CTF game the flag I was carrying simply vanished! It was 9/9, a full close match. Me and another player (my escort) went and got the enemy flag. We were being chased and as I entered my base my teamate said "flag?"
Well I thought I brain farted of course, you know ran to their base and simply missed it and walked back empty handed. Not the case. The other side said "gg" since they saw me with it and had no means to catch or stop me. Multiple eye witnesses said they saw me with the flag including the opposition.
It simply vanished out of my hands. Well the other team ended up scoring this winning and I was unable to see where the flag was/went or if it indeed reset.

Note: I was with a warbird as my escort, had I missed it he would have got the flag. Neither of us were killed or respawned and there was no message "blue team has dropped the flag"

Any ideas? This may be an isolated 1/1000000 type deal but it happend. Im no ctf noob so my account of this is legit. Not to mention I have many witnesses I consulted with afterwards.

The Devs above may be playing tricks on us mere mortals. It has happened to me before but this time it was extremely noticable! Everyone saw!!

Ok ok... I'll admit. I paid 2000 plat for a top secret stealth gear allowing me to be a "sixth" member on an opposing team and snipe flags from an undisclosed location thus giving me 1,000 kills per snipe.

om gosh - thank you for posting this!! happend to me twice today!! in 3 on 3 one time i got half way and didnt see flag, the first time it happend i thought the flag was just very very high up and i couldnt see it(you know how that happens some times)... i entered my flag base, and touched the middle spot and nothing happened (it was the 5th flag)

Ive heard of this happening, the flag just disappearing and not being found. Its obviously not a super rare thing lol
