Not just yet. We are building a couple of new zone types for PL that will provide different types of challenges - and then we'll be circling back to build a 'permanent' gauntlet (provided that we can find a way to seal up the exploits).

This zone type is strictly PvE yes? Like a false expansion. I'm interested in what this is, hopefully it drops soon.

I don't know the best way to counter bots but maybe some sort of chests with keys that unlock the next location could work. Maybe have it so that the chests are placed in a random location. 110 exansion has this in one of the campaigns maps where a key is needed to unlock a blocked area to continue.
