A Pocket Legends Murder Mystery!
Remember to ask all fellow NPCs questions, some might have information pertinent to solving the case! Just address the person you wish to ask about the murder right in this thread. ~ You can ask only two questions that the other must ANSWER, whereabouts or for information pertaining to the murder. Once the person answers either of these questions the information will be posted next to his or her NPCs picture.
BTW if you receive a PM about your NPC that tells that are involved in the murder your goal is too solve the mystery so that you receive no blame. No one will receive the role of the murderer, just of an accomplice or such. Please remember that as an evil doer you wish to remain undiscovered for as long as possible, E.G. do not help solve any clues that would help prove your guilt and try to solve clues that would make another guilty as quickly as possible.

(1) There has been a murder in the, generally, peaceful land of Alterra! The victim?! Poor Ellie the enchantress!
Update #1
Alterra [2/6/12] needs your help! Denizens of Alterra the sheriff of Forest Haven has asked us, we of Alterra, to help solve the case! Any pertinent information to the resolution of this case needs to be brought to the attention of the sheriff immediately. Ellie was found somewhere in Nuris Hallows by a wandering adventurer, one of the last, who frequents the hallows. The authorities believe she was pursued to the hallows and there she was finally subdued! . Whats more close friends of Ellie tell of her deep distaste for the hallows and say that she would have never of her own will enter the hallows due to a child hood fear of clowns! These testimonials nearly rule out any possibility of an accidental run in with the local 'bad-guys' as she wandered through the hallows as no one could think of a reason for Ellie to ever, ever enter the hallows of her own will. Whats more the authorities have even more reason to believe that Ellie's death was not an accident as whenever she went adventuring she would ALWAYS use a 4x combo elixir, just to be safe! The authorities found no traces of such an elixir. As of now authorities are unsure of the route Ellie to the hallows but tops experts are sure that the information will son be known to the authorities and soon after available to the public. The authorities are as of now unaware of the class of the suspect; we are unsure if the suspect was a bear, bird or elf! Again, the authorities are working as hard as they can, and we hope to have updates as soon as possible! As for motive the only apparent motive is greed; over the years Ellie has become very wealthy and a respected member of Alterran society, as her fortune grew some among the community became increasingly jealous of her wealth. Until we are able to access her stash statements and check for any suspicious activity or abnormally large sums withdrawn in the last month we cannot say that the murderer gained anything by his crime. So as of now all we know is that there are has been a murder committed, poor Ellie is our victim and if the community is as outraged as I then I am sure we can clear this case up as quickly as possible! One last very important thing; the authorities FOUND a note on Ellie, but it makes absolutely no sense! I hope you can all help us unscramble the code!
Just a quick re-cap: Ellie the enchantress the well known forest haven vendor has been murdered! It is suspected that she was pursued into the hallows and then subdued, the suspected motive is financial gain but it is unknown whether at the time of the murder if Ellie was carrying any gold at all. The authorities have not yet being able to identify the class of Ellie's assailant or assailants but hope to know more soon. More information should be available to the public tomorrow! AND most important of all we found a clue! A note in some sort of code!? None of the professionals could make heads nor tails of it, can you?

Today [2/7/12] after a hard day or work the FH authorities called it a day. CHECK the puzzles sections to see what they uncovered! It is not certain that three days before the murder Ellie withdrew a large sum of money, amounting to nearly five million gold pieces, the money is still unaccounted for. Ozz's and Gustav's whereabouts the day of the murder are still unaccounted for, both maintain that they were away the entire day trying to lay hands on the illusive brawlers brew. The sheriff continues to ask for as much help as possible from all Alteranns!

Today [2/8/12] a break through was made in the Ellie murder case, THANKS to Elyseon we have solved the mystery of the note. The note read SIRIN TELL ROLFE; HELP! FH authorities are attempting to locate Rolfe but have had no luck so far. It is rumored that Rolfe has been hanging around one of the Alien Oasis towns it is unknown whether he will be in these parts today, but reliable sources tell that [2/9/12] tomorrow he will be there from around 5:15-10:30 PST, he is not a very talkative sort, but observe his dealings from a distance and maybe you will notice something. Remember anything could be a clue! When or if you find him remember to take a screen shot or a mental picture; this information may come in handy when solving our next clue (-Next clue that involves Rolfe!)
It seems that FH authorities have located both Ozz and Gustav and have received statements from both ~ See below for statements ~ Ozz was very unhelpful and continued to ask for a lawyer throughout the interview, Gustav said hardly anything at all but when he did he let something slip that we suspect could be relevant to the case; but the authorities cannot make heads or tales of it, can you? ~ See Clues section ~

Today [2/9/12] the forensics experts of FH have discovered the exact time of death. Ellie was murdered at exactly 2:45 PM! Now that we know this we can begin investigating in more detail. The Sheriff will release the information about the path they believe Ellie took to the hollows tomorrow. As of now please continue your own investigations into the crime, any information you discover you should alert the authorities immediately!

(2) YOU are the contestants, you are the residents of Alterra! So each person will choose one of the NPC's in the whole game and during the duration of this mystery they will continue to be that NPC. Choose from one of theses campaigns:
I would like this to be a bit of a fun dress event as well as a mystery! SO, everyone who wishes to participate will choose one character from one of the campaigns and dress as them. NO DOUBLES! If you want a certain person please post quickly claiming that NPC as yourself. You do not need to take on the name, just the style of dress, IT SHOULD BE COPIED EXACTLY! Unless the item of the NPC is unavailable and then all other available in-game items the NPCs wear should be matched exactly. If we for some freak reason run out of NPCs circus goers or other randoms can be used.
As each NPC is taken I will list them here along with the corresponding forum account and in-game name associated with the NPC.
But why would you need a to dress like said character at all? If this thing goes well then there will several situations where you will be asked to find a suspect or witness to retrieve a clue from them; these clues would only be available for a short amount of time and only given TO THOSE IN EXACT COSTUME!
As far as prizes; well they are TBA! At the moment I hope this is just a fun forum activity; I actually hope to incorporate several very fun things into this mystery so hang on!
- JUST a heads up, after you choose an NPC I will send you a short summary of your involvement in the murder, none, some, or perpetrator, and a list of your whereabouts the day of the murder. IN this thread you can and should be asked by other players about these details! This is all part of the story! THERE is no giving out the fact that you participate or did not participate in the crime, only whereabouts and any other relevant info you receive about your NPC.

- Lauryn asked Mad Martha where she was the day of the murder, Martha replied that she was in the sewers the whole day! After the authorities looked into this they have confirmed that nearly everyone in town saw her clearly. She would have had no time to commit the deed. -Whereabouts Confirmed-

Anyone can be brought to the suspects list as long as three or more people move to put that person on the list; when a person is moved to the list I will post a puzzle that will either point to their involvement or innocence. If the puzzle is not solved within three days the person is removed from the list and cannot be voted back onto the list again!

SUSPECT List #1
The authorities have no 'real' leads just superposition; but our main suspects as of now are the following:

Ozz the Merchant
Why? [2/6/12] Many Alterrans have noticed a fair amount of jealousy directed at Ellie due to her considerable wealth, no Alterran harbored more noticeable jealous than Ozz himself. Ozz who once had a chance to buy into the profitable potion business was talked out of this promising career by none other than Ellie herself. Although Ellie meant no harm when she advised Ozz to take up a career in dealing low level weaponry, which at the time was a booming business, nonetheless Ozz has never forgiven her and feels strongly that what she has should be his. I doubt anyone would think Ozz capable of murder; but everyone would agree he is not below employing shady methods to make an extra buck. The authorities are inquiring into Ozz's whereabouts at this very moment.
The [2/8/12] authorities caught up with Ozz and were able to take his statement!
Ozz: Said very little during the whole affair but repeatedly asked for his lawyer the whole time, no matter how much convincing the Sheriff did Ozz refused to talk without his lawyer present. After hours of the Sheriff assuring Ozz that he was not being accused of anything and that this was only a routine check and each member of the FH community would have to go through this, Ozz consented to tell of his whereabouts the day of the murder but refused to account for his whereabouts on the day following the the day of the murder. Ozz told the Sheriff that one the day of the murder he was on vacationing in the Ancient Swamp; as soon as he heard the news he rushed back as he maintained that he was a close friend of Ellie. When ask where he stayed in the swamps he replied that he enjoys camping and was camping the past couple days, including the day of the murder. Ozz did say during the day of the murder he was in town for at least three hours. After this information divulged Ozz went back to asking for a lawyer. The interview was terminated minutes later when Ozz's lawyer entered and shouted some legal mumbo jumbo and the two rushed from the interview room.
Today [2/8/12] the authorities took Ozz's statement, his whole day is accounted for, this information will be in the PUZZLES and CLUES section, if you are interested in knowing his exact whereabouts throughout the day check it out.
Gustav the Strongman
Why? [2/6/12] Gustav due to the nature of his job is a poor fellow, a bit violent by nature the strong man is a one of the most likely candidates for a crime like this. Gustav haunts the hallows so this brings even more suspicion on him. Gustav, not the brightest fellow, might be brought to violence for monetary gain if provoked or if he felt he had been wronged, but once again I doubt anyone in the community would think him possible of cold blooded murder. The authorities are inquiring into Gustav's whereabouts at this very moment.
The [2/8/12] authorities caught up with Gustav and were able to take his statement!
Gustav: said very little during the interview; he maintained that he was at a friend of his's house nearly the whole day, the house is located near the town of the DF. Gustav described his actions with little detail but accounted for almost every hour of the day, the FH authorities are checking into his story and attempting to find the name of Gustav's friend, whose name changed throughout the interview; Okrakin, Inderi or Houlo, the authorities are fairly sure none of these people exist. Aside from incriminating himself at least seven times through one act of idiocy of another. Gustav is currently being held in custody indefinitely. Gustav did let one interesting tid-bit about Ozz out; he claimed to have seen Ozz in his vacation home, just of the main foot path, as he walked to his friends house, this was sometime during the early morning hours, before the murder took place; the authorities have no yet found out exactly what time the murder happened at. Gustav claims that he saw Ozz in his home from the main footpath, is it possible that Gustav could have seen Ozz? ~ Check the Puzzles section ~ This more or less concluded the interview as Gustav clammed up and did not say another word.
Today [2/9/12] Gustav was released from custody as his story about being in the Ursan Weald in the house of his friend Marlon, apparently Gustav has no memory for names.
Not only did Marlon vouch for Gustav, but Marlon's friend has vouched that he watched Marlon's house nearly the entire day and the two were inside for nearly the entire day; they left for about two hours and visited the local pub but then returned to Marlon's home. IT looks like Gustav was not directly involved in the murder but the authorities are still watching him; the Sheriff is almost positive he had something to do with the murder. ~ Gustav was released from custody, but is still under suspicion. ~
Sirin
Why? [2/6/12] Sirin, the most likely candidate for this crime; once Sirin came into the possession of a particularly rare item, a Custom Gemstone Recurve, which he promptly sold to Ellie for what he thought was a fair price, 20,000g! Sirin learned later that the item could fetch up to 1,000,000g, he felt scammed and asked for another 100,000g at least. Ellie apologetic but firm refused to compensate him for his ignorance. Sirin irascible by nature flew into a rage and attempted to lay hands on Ellie but was prevented by Bayer the Mystic who was restocking his potion supply. Sirin never really forgave Ellie even though much time has passed since this event took place. I feel that of all the early suspects Sirin is the most likely, and I am sure the community agrees with me. BUT, Sirin has a near perfect alibi; the day of the crime Sirin was in the company of both Bayer the Mystic and the Sheriff himself playing cards, the series of games lasted nearly the entire day of the crime. Sirin will be completely free of blame unless the authorities are able to find a plausible way for him to have played cards the entire day and commit the crime at the same time.

CLUE #1 [2/6/12]
The note found on Ellie reads as follows (it seems to be some sort of code.)

The above code seems more difficult than the first but may just give a little bit information!
Ans. "Contact Sirin; Gustav. Tell Rolfe; Ozz - is dangerous, get to rolfe before gustav does. you can stop this, tell sheriff before noob!" - Thanks to a little help from Rolfe we were able to decode the cypher!
The scrap of paper that includes the above codes also includes theses aids but it is unclear for which one each one applies.

FH cryptographers have been working ever since receiving the note; today they made a break threw but they they still cannot make heads or tails or the rest of the note. Can you help?
The note now reads BI(M)L(M)T T(L)E(N) LWXVE(N); HELP (JNXQ) . and the experts are sure the correct subsitution is X = L ~ V = F! The top FH professionals have decoded the note to this point but are now stuck; BI(M)LI(M)T TELL LWL(X)F(V)E(N); HELP (JNXQ) The experts suspect the note reads NPC + tell + NPC + help. But do we know any NPCs whose names end in "LFE"? Oh, and which NPC has a five letter name _i_i_? Keep an out our for these guys, it could help us solve the case!

~ Unlocked (Clue #1 fully solved, this unlocks clue #2) ~ CLUE #2 [2/9/12]
Gustav let something funny slip as he was talking to the authorities; Gustav maintained that he spent the day in the Ursan Weald with his friend Marlon, Marlon has confirmed this Jackson who works across from Marlon confirmed Gustav and Marlon's whereabouts during the day of the murder. It looks like GUSTAV could not have committed the actual crime, but it seems that he is involved. BUT was Gustav's information concerning Ozz true? Ozz maintains that he left his camp during the afternoon, around 3:00, he claims he entered the town and viewed the many sites in Lake Louise. Gustav claims that he saw Ozz in his vacation home in the Ursan Weald sometime during the early morning, he believes it was either 6 or 7 AM at the time. An eye witness maintains that he saw Ozz leave his tent at around 10:30; could Ozz have made it to the Ursan Weald and back before 10:30 and still be unnoticed? SOLVE THIS PUZZLE and you decide: WORKING ON IT ~ VERY TIRED

Thanks to Lowlyspy; who talked to Rolfe in the town of Oasis and noticed a couple strange things.
Rolfe said that he was in the Ursan wield with his girl friend the entire day, he also claims his girl friend is Darada. WILL Darada confirm or deny this? Also he claims he was in the Ursan Wield the entire day, Krowe must have seen him, right? Will Krowe confirm or deny this? THIS is strange right? I think this justifies an investigation? Maybe if we can access his email, ROLFEPL@HOTMAIL.COM we can find out more about this. But what could the password be? Maybe you can find clues in what Rolfe was nearby or looking at when you met him. Anything might be a clue! GL!
