Seems more like the humans became the oppressors. And the vampires are rising and fighting back. Hence, the vampire nation rises.

Being a creature unkown to the normal way of life to some don't nessecarily mean bad. To the vampire side, the humans are the bad guys who are intolerant to their ways of life. While on the human side, the vampires are the bad guys because they are usually told obscene stories of vampires. It's merely predjudice between vampires and humans. Usually along the road a human a vampire would understand each other and hold their peace. (Don't mention Twilight at all please) We can only hope that one day the vampires and humans can finally set aside their differences and become one! (Hmm I can make a book on DL lol)

Vampires does not mean bad, would you say that a Tiger is a bad animal? Vampires are simply predators and humans are the prey... If you eat steak would you say that you are a bad person? The cows might think so but you wouldn't, would you?
