Many players were playing Honor pvp during the first half of the year because of the tournament sponsorships, the stakes involved, competition, motivation to get better, and so forth. There was a lot more active, organized and competitive pvp because of this.
Now that sponsorships have ended for the remainder of the year, tournaments have died out as well and resulted in a much less active pvp scene.
I think sponsorships are good for the overall health of the game because they boost pvp activity. This is comparable to PVE events, much in the same way that those events boost activity.
