Assuming this was an sts (email/password based) account, you have 3 options:
1) If you still have a device / browser authorized to log into the account, log in and change the email address to one you do have access to (nexus -> my account -> modify account).
2) Regain access to the email address, so you can receive email there again.
3) Contact support, prove to them that the account has always been yours, and get them to change the email address for you, to one you do have access to.
