def, damage and dps questions. input will be much appreciated.

im not sure if i posted this in the right place but, can someone explain to me how damage and dps affect skill damage?

current stat:
110+ attack
102 def
1100+hp
51 damage
82 dps

passives:
1damage 1attack 1health.

**1 power point to spend.**

should i use my last point on def or would it be better to have 95+ dps?

im more of a pvp type of player.

i can say ure useing at swarm and leap,
so.. my choice is to put 1 att, 2 dmg and 2 health.
the reasone that is it prefer 1 att than 1 def is that u can use protective shadow instead assault shadow.
and gain 1 att,1def and 5 health. how?
cos protective shadow have 6,26,20
like all protective items.
but shadow assault and shadow vitality is missing one point than other items.
is means, if u r useing assault shadow and protective weapon? if ull change them to protective shadow and assault weapon? ull gain those 1 att,1 def and 5 health for free....
