My take on it is that aegis is better for multiple targets and warrior PvP, while sword is better for boss and has more potential to deal lots of damage(just use haste duh) while aegis proc damage is not improvable in any way but increasing your str.Also sword must be better to duel rogues, not sure about mages tho

Polaris gives you more crowd control while the sword procs a little bit more often on bosses. But both are ok.
