and pro tip: using the flamethrower makes killing the eggs MUCH faster. With a normal weapon all the eggs hatch and you have to kill the little aliens. With the flamethrower you just breeze right through.

With the flamethrower (and I know its a cool piece) you don't get exp, the eggs don't give exp, the little bugs that hatch from it do.
