Undead mask too rare?

For clarification The Undead Mask will remain in the game once the event is over, but it will no longer drop in the world for people to find. All of the masks that drop will be the only ones on the server once the event is over and still be able to be worn, traded and sold.

I understand the mask itself is permanent. I mean an item that drops for a limited time i feel should not be as difficult for most of us to get. I say most of us cos if i run into another under 10k pve kill person who says they got the mask in under ten runs.....
Why do i get the feeling this is a teaser for the mask to show up on dotd for x amount of plat.
