Yeah. The game only has ads for those who haven't purchased platinum. That is only game wide. So, if you purchase platinum in PL, but not in SL - you'll have no ads in PL; but you'll have ads in SL. It's common business tactics. STS gets paid to have ads; people don't want ads. They make money either way.
