Being an ex-op, I would say b/c of the insane dps output and the ability to kite.
lash-lurch-lash-lurch-lash and basically the enemy would never be able to reach you, yes I know you can run around but in narrow places this tactic works really well, esp b/c ops have tissue paper armor.
Another supplemental reason is b/c my kill count goes up way faster and I don't die as much. Now with a com, as my main role is blocking laser beams with my face, I have a really remarkable kill/death ratio (wouldn't go into the details, let's just say I killed a lot of mobs and did not die a lot shall we?). While using an op, I can have an excuse of hiding behind my teammates...
Random player: "You coward!"
Me: "Hey come one I'm an op, poop armor, suppose to hide behind coms and deal dmg?"
I would have continued using op if it weren't for the fact that I was seeing an ironic trend. (which is fortunately resolved now)
Coms seemed to be hiding behind while ops are charging head first into the mobs?
