Mage build help

My brother is switching to mage and needs a good current build guide for mage and what abilities to use where. Also gear and pet combos for around the 300-350m budget range. Any help is appreciated.

I don't know much about mage but please for the love of god make sure he doesn't use shield skill with the push ability. That skill with the mob push is the most annoying thing ever.

Push effect is done by pets AA and gale skill not shield . I don't use gale as I dont like scattering mobs too

Shield has a skill called displacement wave, it pushes also.

So i still have not gotten a mage build i mean like what skills to use as stuff, this will be purely pve build

mage build, sorcerer build - dps and control -

0/1/1/0 means don't use the first and last sub skill

frost bolt 0/1/1/0
lightning 1/0/1/0
fireball 1/1/1/0
time shift 1/1/1/0

passives

mastery

ultimate - energize > meteor strike, but both are great for mobs and boss

if movement is a problem then try gale force with speed of wind
if being dead is a problem then use arcane shield with haste passive
if money is a problem then use life giver with empower
if farming gold, take the gl passive

curse - personally I haven't tested it but people say it's mostly for PVP

Also message Ifoc, I've seen them do crazy thing using pressure crush. Instantly kills elite rahab and idk how.
