Thanks are useless...

Forum thanks and reputation are entirely useless. I'm not sure why they still exist on here when so many people find them pointless...

Many people have stated this in the past, I just wanted to revive the topic since so many people feel strongly about it. Tons of thanks are given out to not even necessarily useful posts. A lot of it is friends thanking friends, or people buying thanks from others. Lots of thanks and rep can give someone the appearance of being helpful and making useful posts like long, detailed guides, when they're really posting threads ranting about things like forum rep.

So, what does everyone else think?

My opinion was made on rep a while ago, my sig shows it. Don't count on it changing Myst, it was made quite clear that it's here to stay unless it starts causing bigger problems then it has.

For the most part yes the system has it's flaws. For me, I like seeing someone giving me unsolicited thanks on a post i made. Simply put it gives me the satisfaction that perhaps I helped or entertained them in some way. Most that do honestly give out thanks also will usely make a post to say it as well and why. It is user's choice on thnx & rep system and the way they want to use it. Either way I appreciate the fact that I am thought well enough for someone to give me thanks, wether it is for my post or for just being a friend. So thanks for allowing me the oppurtunity to voice my simple and humble opinion on the subject.
