Yeah agreed. And since literally every item of value right now is behind a plat wall its just insanely expensive irl (swiping the card) and in-game to obtain them. Hence why reducing gold loot is a terrible idea.
Making a means for f2p to open locked chests every now and then perhaps in events, etc, will help reduce this problem of extreme shortage of items in game right now. This will also help with prices hopefully, since there will be slightly more items of value circulating in game leading to better prices.
Realistically looking at it, it will not diminish current plat purchases in game because of how rare obtaining a item of value should be for f2p. (Many ways to implement this, tokens in events, keys given out every week, etc). Keys being given out seems amazing if it can be done, since its 4 weeks per month, perhaps 5 keys per week. Totaling 240 keys for players every year. Non-tradeable bound per email-account. That way players can open 9-10 chests per year AT LEAST.
Even if players choose to make 200 + accounts to receive these rewards by daily logging in, to claim the end of week reward of keys on their accounts it wont change the fact that they can open 10 chests at max per account per year. Since drop rates are ridiculously low anyways it seems alright on paper. Correct me if I am wrong. (These are just suggestions to have more loot circulating in game overall).
