I love this game a lot, it's a childhood classic for me.I would just love
if sts made better decisions that benefited players new AND old.
Their current decisions seem to be influenced by monetization and greed.
The problem is that this repels new players and thus prevents the game from growing.
From a business perspective, sts is driving away new potential customers and instead slowly losing existing customers.
The new player experience could use a lot of improvements .
The main issue right now is that new players start off with essentially zero gold and don't have any ways of making gold (and gears).
Events right now are the main way new players can make gold. The problem is that events are:
A.) Time limited and frequently change (on paper this is not a problem). The thing is that they won't always be reliable for new players
B.) Some events are new player friendly (example: Arlorian Boss Hunt) and not so friendly (e.g labyrinth, 2024's Scavenger hunt). Each event is effectively a coin flip for new players.
C.) In general events shouldn't be the main or only way new players can get gold or strong gears. The base game itself should provide these things, since unlike events it remain consistent.
If a new player starts with zero gold and only has access to legendary gears that the game provides, where are they going to make gold?
The second category regarding the new player experience:
Gears
New players only get legendary gears from the base game (not including events or auction. Even then, these aren't necessary reliable or helpful since new start off with zero gold).
Mythic and arcane gears are essentially premium only (they come from locked crates and are sold by plat buyers). New players have no ways of getting these gears without spending money or millions of gold, which they start off with zero.
(Yes, certain elite golden chest do have mythic and arcane gears. But not only are they at a low droprate but with legendary gears a new player can't farm a elite map appropriate to their level (example: a lvl 26 player can't farm elite nordr or shuyal cuz they're too weak for the map).
Plus new players have no speed sets, so even if they could farm, It would take them much longer and not be as effective.
My suggestions would be the following:
A.) This applies for both early game AND late game. Maps, especially elite maps, should have a chance to drop level appropriate mythic and arcane gear for that map. Example a new player at lvl 31 or lvl 36 could farm normal nordr or elite nordr for a chance to get lvl 26+ mythic helm, armor, and weapons that could make them stronger. Because chest have very low drop rate but you don't need to add lv 31 arc weapons to the monster drop chance just armor and helm will work
This would give new players the option to farm a previous map for strong mythic and arcane gears. The elite maps should have a higher chance of dropping these gears (however the droprate shouldn't be, chance > 20% or chance < 1%).
B.) A new speed set for new players or a permanent buff to players base speed (right now it's at 1.00, this could be buffed to 1.5 or 1.75 base speed.)
This will help new players travel much easier throught maps and clear maps full of enemies much faster and effectively.
C.) Since new players have to run solo until lvl 83+ unless they join a guild which helps them but many other newbies who don't join guilds find it hard and quit , mobs and bosses for maps starting from brackenridge to festerfang should receive a small nerf to the mobs and bosses hp and damage (no more than 20% nerf).
In addition, at certain maps like festerfang, the mobs are too strong for a single new player to clear by themselves with just legendary gear. Such a nerf to mobs and bosses from festerfang and below would make the game much easier for them.
D.) Buff the gold loot drops from maps starting from festerfang and below. In addition, new players could be provided with a beginner's elixir that Buffs their luck AND gold loot (example: 100% to 200% gold loot buff).
Even the first map should have a base gold drop of at least 1k gold. So the beginner buff could boost this to at least 2-3k. The gold drops should get better the harder the maps (note: zodias and above are fine with their gold drops).
E.) Quests should give MUCH more gold than they currently do. Even the first quests in the game should give at least 10k gold. Quests that require killing a boss should give 50-100k.
This can and will new players make good gold by just playing the game and completing Quests. By the time they reach level 86, they will have millions of gold to spend on buying decent gears from auction (example: zaarus and kraken gears)
Suggestions we could work on rest if you want your game to arract new player base , you want your game to keep thriving to earn you'll do what you think is right hopefully you chose the right option![]()
Not my idea.. It's from one of my friend's who quit and came back a month ago to game... I'm doing it on his behalf cuz he fears you guys will censor it or ban his account for doing something/giving advice on how to improve the game / get more earning lol
