Preview - Pet Evolution Event

The Pet Evolution Event is back and will start at 1:30pm CT on 3/13/2025 and last for 1 week.

Recent Changes

We've significantly lowered the costs per tier to evolve your pets. In the second thread post, you'll find details on new shard costs. Gold costs remain unchanged. All players will have the difference in spent shards returned as tradable kits in inventory. All players will receive a Platinum refund for the difference in trainer costs.

Getting Started



Look out for Balboa the Beastmaster who will share information about a her recent scholarly discoveries.

Quests and Rewards



After accepting Balboa's first quest, you'll need to venture out to find the random encounter mini-boss Devolo. Devolo will spawn from any enemy at any level, so take a look around nearby to find him. Return to Balboa after defeating him to receive your very first Legendary Pet Trainer!

Survive another round with Devolo and return to Balboa again for your first 20 Legendary Pet Evolution Shards. This is enough to get your first Evolution level and most of the way to your second!



Completing this quest will unlock a final [Daily] Quest to find a much tougher undead enemy, Yvon. To find Yvon, seek out enemies within 10 levels of your character. Once defeated, Balboa will reward you with the Bound Beastmaster Trainer Cache which will grant you one random Pet Trainer up to HEROIC rarity!



But...that begs the question...

Where can you find Shards to use for those trainers?



Once you complete Balboa's 2 main quests to defeat Devolo, you unlock the chance to loot the Beastmaster Trainer Cache and the Beastmaster Shard Cache items. Beastmaster Shard Caches will drop randomly from any boss, regardless of level, though there is a 1 hour cooldown before you can loot it from the same boss.

The Beast Master Trainer Cache is free to open, tradable, and will grant one (1) Trainer of any rarity.

Similar to the trainer cache, the Beast Master Shard Cache is free to open, tradable, and will grant one (1) Shard of any rarity.

Store Locked Crates

If you're looking for Arcane and Mythic items, we'll be offering the Locked Crate of the Toebean (and class versions) in the Platinum Store for the duration of the event. You can open these with Platinum.

Guaranteed loot will offer the Pawfect Badge!

I have a question: if you bought plat, spent it on shards, and then used it on your pet, instead of spending the plat on the pet directly, does that mean you won’t get refunded plat?

Yes, you will not receive a Platinum refund for purchased shards. Regardless of how you acquired the shards, players will receive the difference in shards between the old cost and the new. For example, if it costed 200 shards to evolve a tier and it now costs 40, you will receive 160 shards back in tradable kits (well, you'll receive 200 because the kits are 100 shards a piece). This works for both free and paid players. You can then choose to evolve another pet or sell the shards.

For trainers, you'll receive a single Platinum compensation that is the direct difference between what trainer costs were and what they are now.

No, the pets won't automatically be leveled up for you. You'll receive shard kits in your inventory and you'll get to choose when to evolve your pets.

If players did this a few days before this preview post, that's just unfair.
Even if players did this a while before this preview post, it's not fair.
You're charging insanely much for pet tiers and then you heavily reduce it.
You should refund all overspend platinum on shards/trainers bought in store with platinum.
